I heard about 2 devices for treatment of high blood pressure - Resperate and ONEGA. I saw advertising on TV about ONEGA and they claimed to cure both high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Does Resperate do the same or not? Please share your experience. Many thanks in advance

Q: I have Thalassemia minor. I've been told NOT to take Iron supplements but my doctor insists this is not true. Please advise. A: Thalassemia minor is an inherited blood disease that effects the production of hemoglobulin. Presumably your doctor has checked your blood levels of iron and has advised you appropriately. It is perfectly okay for some people with Thalassemia minor to take an iron supplement.

How Avapro Reduces Blood Pressure Avapro (irbesartan) is one of a new class of blood pressure medication called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). Angiotensin II is a chemical that causes the muscles surrounding the blood vessels to contract (tighten). This in turn narrows the blood vessels. This narrowing increases the pressure within the blood vessels and can cause high blood pressure (hypertension). Avapro works by blocking the action of angiotensin II. As a result, the blood vessels dilate (relax) and blood pressure is reduced. Other ARB medications include Diovan, Cozaar, Atacand, Micardis, Atacand Plus, and Hyzaar.
